Express Yourself
Artists participate in many cultural sectors. Visual artists create original works of art through various mediums such as drawings, paintings, collage, and photography. Dancers perform classical, modern, or acrobatic dances in theatre, film, and television productions. Musicians perform with bands, choirs, orchestras, opera companies, and as solo artists. Actors and Comedians perform roles in theatre, musical, television, radio and film productions. Increasingly, new modes of artistic expression are being explored thanks to the availability of emerging technologies and new methods of image and sound creation. These new digital mediums are comprised of formats such as digital illustration and collage, 2D and 3D animation, and digital video and sound design.
Collaborate
Artists thrive in creatively nurturing environments. Musicians often play a collaborative role with vocalists, filmmakers, and television producers and directors. They are comfortable with live performance (performed solo or as part of group), and own the ability to improvise and play songs and musical styles on demand. Dancers perform as soloists, with partners and with dance ensembles. They collaborate with choreographers in order to refine or develop dance steps and routines. Graphic Designers consult with clients to determine their specific needs in order to produce work that meets their communication goals and is also visually appropriate. In all artistic disciplines, collaboration and client/audience participation is the cornerstone of innovation and artistic exploration.
Find An Audience
An actor’s most prized talent is their abilities to convey the complete depth of the human experience through their words and actions. They demonstrate their ability and talent via an intense audition process and through tireless theatre, film, and television performance. Visual Artists are for the most part self-employed and focus on the production and distribution/display of their own creative work. A singer’s most prized talent is their ability to convey a wide range of human emotions and experience through the power of their voice. Talent and demonstrated ability via live performance and/or studio expertise are the keys to employability in the music and acting industries. For the visual artist, creative ability and artistic talent is demonstrated by their portfolio of work.
Conductors typically possess a bachelor or masters in music from a university or school of music. Previous tenure as a musical director and conductor is also essential.
