Graphic Designer

Graphic Designers produce visual communication materials for advertising, publications, packaging, posters, and corporate identities (logos and wordmarks). They participate in diverse industries such as film, broadcast, animation, and web design.

Graphic Designers consult with clients to determine their specific needs, in order to produce work that both meets their communication goals and is also visually appropriate. They prepare sketches, layouts and develop graphic elements – often commissioning illustrators and/or photographers to produce images for the final design.

They are employed by graphic design studios, advertising agencies, new media and web-design studios. Graphic Designers also work within internal corporate design and communication departments.

      A Graphic Designer typically has a college diploma or university degree. A university degree in graphic design is often required. The title “registered graphic designer” is recognized by law in the province of Ontario.
