Models pose as a subject for photographs, paintings, and sculptures. They pose and create a mood as directed by an art or creative director. Fashion models display clothing and accessories in commercials, advertisements, and on the runway.
Models perform many public functions such as introducing and greeting guests at social occasions such as dinners, luncheons and other events. Models pose and model by standing, turning, and walking in an effort to best demonstrate a garment’s features. Posing is typically done at fashion shows, industry gatherings, and retail locations.
Models are employed by the modeling agencies, fashion designers, advertising agencies, photographers, art instruction schools, and the television and film industries. Jobs may range from as short as a few minutes or hours (photo shoots and fashion show) to many days (catalog and specialty modeling).

Visual Artists are for the most part self-employed and focus on the production and distribution/display of their own creative work. A singer’s most prized talent is their ability to convey a wide range of human emotions and experience through the power of their voice. Talent and demonstrated ability via live performance and/or studio expertise are the keys to employability in the music and acting industries. For the visual artist, creative ability and artistic talent is demonstrated by their portfolio of work.
Natural talent and ability, based on an audition or previous modeling assignments, is the most important hiring criteria.
