VTR Operator : Museums : Technician

A VTR Operator takes previously prepared video footage stored on tape or video servers and inserts the footage into newscasts or other live television programming. The VTR Operator takes queue from the Director to insert video elements such as news clips, sports highlights, or graphic elements at the appropriate time.

VTR Operators require video editing skills to cut and assemble video pieces and prepare them for on air viewing. They must create video material that is interesting and holds the viewer attention.

TV studios and broadcast companies employ VTR Operators.
