Carpenter : Crafts : Technician
Carpenters construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structures and components of structures made of wood, wood-substitutes, and other materials. They construct building components in conformance to building codes using measuring tools. They measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials. They read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
As well, Carpenters build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub flooring, and erect walls and roof systems. Carpenters build, maintain and repair structures such as housing, buildings, and film sets.
Carpenters are employed by construction companies, carpentry contractors, maintenance departments, or may be self-employed.
