A Ballerina is a principal female dancer in a ballet company - a male dancer is referred to as a “Danseur”. Ballerinas perform ballet and contemporary dance in a live theatre setting, expressing stories through the tradition of ballet. They perform as soloists and with partners within the structure of a ballet company. Ballerinas perform in a wide variety of productions, acting in addition to dancing, when required.
